Rapid Reversal of Fatty Liver

Prestigious research:
Liver steatosis is the leading cause of donor rejection in living donor liver transplantation. Rapid weight loss is difficult to achieve in a short period of time, moreover it has been thought to worsen liver histology.

Donors who had significant steatosis based on liver biopsy were recommended 1200 Kcal/day and a minimum of 60 min/day moderate cardio training. Two patients were advised statins for dyslipidemia. None of the donors had metabolic syndrome. A second ultrasound guided liver biopsy was done at 28 ± 10 days. Donors with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis/fibrosis or >30% steatosis were not included.

Steatosis can be reversed in a short duration by aggressive life style modifications in highly motivated liver donors.

Reverse Fatty Liver With the Right Diet

A fatty liver disease is categorized into two: non-alcoholic and alcoholic fat-so liver. The alcoholic kind is cause by excessive alcohol intake while the non-alcoholic one may be caused by metabolism disorders or obesity. Metabolic disorders may come in the form of diabetes mellitus and obesity. Other factors include drugs like tamoxifen and methotrexate and nutritional status like over nutrition, severe malnutrition and starvation diet.

Reverse Fatty Liver With the Right Diet

There are different ways to overcome a fat-so liver. The most appropriate would be adhering to a carefully controlled and well balanced fatty liver disease diet. One good diet for a fatty liver is a diet that promotes weight loss of 1 to 2 pounds per week. For an alcohol related fatty organ, abstinence from alcohol intake is a must.

The diet must be continuously taken even after positive results are observed. All the food groups must be included in the diet. However, certain considerations on the amount of saturated fat, carbohydrates and sugar must be observed. It must be a well balanced diet and should be taken five to six meals daily.

The best food that a fat liver must have is one that is low in saturated fats. Foods that are sweet and those that are rich in carbohydrates must be taken in smaller quantities. Fresh fruits should be eaten instead of sweets but they too need to be controlled. Early detection may reverse the condition with the proper treatment plan. Correction of the underlying cause must be addressed initially then a well balanced fatty organ diet must be carefully initiated. The treatment plan must be carefully planned out and should include the most appropriate foods for a fatty organ as well as the quantities and number of meals per day.

Foods To Eat When Diagnosed with Fatty Liver

Diet is your first line of offense against a diagnosis of fatty liver. Your diet can totally transform your health and your life.

Below are eight foods to eat in your diet if you have fatty liver.

1 Green Leafy Vegetables

Green leafy veggies are the #1 food to have in your diet when diagnosed with fatty liver. Kale, spinach, watercress, dandelion greens, mustard greens, collard greens and romaine lettuce are full of nutrients that help your liver regenerate.

2 Healthy Fruits

Fruits contain different types of acids that help purify the cells of the liver. For example, apples contain malic acid which helps dissolve stones in the gall bladder and liver. Healthy fruits are fruits closest to their raw form.

3 Protein

Your liver needs enough protein in your diet in order to regenerate itself. Some studies have shown in the past that 100 grams protein a day is the 'magic' amount where the liver can detoxify itself from toxins.

4 Milk Thistle

Milk thistle is often one of the primary components of herbal formulas. Several herbal formulas tested scientifically that contain milk thistle have been proven to target the pathological events that initiate and make fatty liver disease progress.

5 Green Tea

Green tea's medicinal actions include antioxidant, thermogenic (heat-creating), fat reducing and anti-inflammatory activities that make it an herb with liver-protecting properties. In a 2012 medical report found in the journal Nutrition Reviews, scientists concluded: " This reivew presents the experimental evidence demonstrating the hepatoprotective properties of green tea and its catechins and the proposed mechanisms by which these targeted dietary agents protect against non-alcoholic fatty acid disease.

6 Soy

In a rat study on the effects of soy on lean and obese animals, animals fed either casein milk protein or soy for 17 weeks showed a difference in their liver tests. The animals that ate soy diets reduced their triglyceride levels by 20% plus they reduced their overall liver fat accumulation. The researchers had evidence to believe that soy partially restored part of the fat metabolism. They believe that adding soy to diets of those who are obese or have fatty liver disease would be able to make a difference and could assist in reversing the disease.

7 Liver Cleanse Formulas

Liver cleanse formulas are combinations of herbs that 'clean out' the cells of the liver, and help it regenerate. There are many different kinds on the market.

8 Camel Milk

Camel milk contains natural insulin that can help insulin resistance in those who are overweight or have metabolic syndrome. It has been known to help decrease the amount of insulin needed by diabetics. In one study in Saudi Arabia, camel milk given to rats eating a high fat, cholesterol-rich diet that causes fatty liver, 8 weeks of camel milk drinking decreased the fat in the liver, the inflammatory cell infiltration of the liver, increased glutathione levels, and preserved liver function. It totally eliminated the fatty liver changes normally caused by the diet. Camel milk is available from Amish farmers in the United States.

Other basic ways to Reverse Fatty Liver

Exercise

Exercise is another element that shows best results when applied over a diet. Exercise simply triggers your liver's fat burning system and the liver cells, naturally, start by burning the fat inside them already, effectively reversing steatosis.

Supplements

A few herbs haven been shown to not only reverse liver damage but also trigger liver regeneration, reverse liver cirrhosis, and even prevent and reverse early stages of liver cancer. Of those turmeric, milk thistle, artichoke and ginger are the most important and there are several commercial combinations available, as well as individual herbs.

Fatty Liver Detox

You may have heard the term, "fatty liver detox" but do not know what it means. A fatty liver detox is the use of a diet that will specifically detoxify the liver. It's a diet that will start the reversal of the cells affected by fatty liver disease to normal. This is not making any type of medical claim; the liver is one of the only organs in the body that we know of that can and does regenerate itself when you give it what it needs.
A fatty liver detox may be a juice cleanse or a diet with specific foods. Here's an example of a fatty liver detox that is a juice cleanse:
  • Breakfast: Wake Me Up Juice - Carrot-Apple-Strawberry-Spinach-Lemon Juice
  • Lunch: Green Juice Supreme - Tomato-Kale-Spinach-Parsley-Carrot-Bell Pepper-Cilantro Juice
  • Dinner: Beauty Juice - Carrot-Bell Pepper-Cucumber-Parsnip-Celery Juice

You can see that this juice diet is full of vegetables, which are the #1 food to start the liver regeneration. Fasting on fresh juices includes drinking water in between the juices. There may be a weight loss that occurs on this detox but vegetable fruit juices are loaded with nutrients. One pound of carrots gives you one cup of juice, and it has more nutrients than what you could eat if you sat down to eat carrots.

You can ease into this fatty liver detox by eliminating caffeine and alcohol from your diet for a week prior to starting this fatty liver juice detox. You can also decrease the processed foods and sugar in your diet, as both of these foods provide no benefits for you and your liver. The fatty liver juice detox may be done for 3 days, 5 days, a week, 2 weeks, or even 30 to 45 days. Your body tells you when it's finished with the fatty liver detox by giving you ideas to eat again. These aren't ideas such as "That bacon really smells good" or "I would love a crispy creme donut right now!" but instead, they are ideas such as "I must start eating today!" and "It's time to eat!"

Here's an example of a fatty liver detox with meals instead of with juice:
  • Breakfast: Fresh tomato basil juice, omelet with vegetables, whole grain toast with butter, orange segments
  • Snack: Protein shake
  • Lunch: Raw vegetable salad with spinach, Romaine lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, radishes, broccoli, hot peppers, artichoke hearts, tangerine segments, walnuts, steak, and parsley
  • Snack: Apple
  • Dinner: Salmon, yam, asparagus, whole grain roll with butter, cherries, blueberries, and strawberries
  • Snack: Handful of raw sprouted almonds (soaked in water overnight and rinsed)

You can see that eating a fatty liver detox diet is full of plenty of flavors and great tastes to delight your taste buds, yet it has no processed foods, no alcohol, no excessive amounts of sugar or salt, and is full of green vegetables to regenerate the liver.
